Bon Festival In Penang, 2007

*If you feel like whacking me, please read on. :P*

Today marked the most important and memorable day because a lot of people will form a group, wear their outfits which work as magnets to make sure people will look at them… All for the sake of Bon Festival, or commonly known (which is wrong) as “Bon Odori”.

“Bon Odori” is an event during “Obon” or “Bon Festival” so we should learn that it’s not “Hey, do you wanna attend Bon Odori with me?”. I will leave the history of “Bon Odori” to wikipedia which covers a precise definition of “Bon Festival”.

Bon Festival is held in Penang annually. It is a day, like I mentioned, people will take this opportunity to dress up like Japanese, they will draw their eyeliners so thick that they look like ghosts! And coincidentally, Bon Festival is held to worship or honor the departed ancestors’ spirits! Some girls will take this chance to wear like whores and after the event you will see loads of “beautiful” pictures in their Friendster profiles. COOL what! Urgh… makes me wanna PUKE.

So Mr. Ghosts-wannabe and Mrs Whorelook … I have one word for ya… “NASTY!!!

Bon Festival is so popular that each time you go, you will describe how many food stalls are there, how beautiful the fireworks, how crowded the people are… and this year… it’s the same!!! Let me show you a picture of the scenery in Bon Festival!

Bon Festival

This is actually Gurney Plaza, and no, Bon Festival is not held in Gurney Plaza, truth is I didn’t attend Bon Festival because… Reasons are given below… Don’t whack me just yet!

Okay okay I know you’ll be thinking, “Rewind that, asshole, this ain’t no BON FESTIVAL!” or before throwing me with a HUGE “WTF!!!” on my face… Let me explain something to all of you. See my class starts today and it ends at 6:30pm, and people will start to book the places at 5 something because the longer you take, the more you gotta wait and be tortured in traffic congestion.

It is a total turn off today as IT WAS RAINING SO HEAVILY and the Bon Festival is held on an open space, no shelters and muddy environment, tell me now, why is it that I have to be like a buffalo or hippopotamus to soak myself in mud and get so wet and sick under the rain? But the Shouters reached there earlier when the weather was still fine, unfortunate me!

Shouters In Bon Festival

Damn! Y’all still have the chance to take pictures there while I’m still in class!!!

Because of the rain… And instead of wasting time searching for parking spaces, the Shouters proposed that we moved to Gurney, my second home. And we had our dinner at the Food Court, mind you… Who the hell told you that we can only enjoy ourselves there? Apparently, the Shouters and some new friends were acting ghetto! We could even take pictures in a Food Court, how sublime!!!

Cameras

Define bloggers: People who like to take pictures wherever they go, and they think that it is essential to learn how to pose because at any point of time, you will be the target of their cameras. And … WHAT THE HELL? So many cameras?! Poor reporters, you’re losing jobs soon. Just kidding.

Loads and loads of camwhoring session, we even bumped into Kim and she brought her adorable daughter, Lasker and Elise took picture with her, and I was so touched that she remembered me as the chickiest fella in pictures. :P

Kim and her daughter with Lasker and Elise

The lady with her adorable daughter is Kim, and her bodyguards Lasker and Elise.

Sadly I don’t use my phone to take pictures that much because I know, at the end of the day I can still steal those pictures from the camwhores’ blogs.

So that’s it, before you wanna whack me, please sympathize me a little, I’ve been having diarrhea and I’ve been suffering a lot in the bathroom for so many times. So whack me when I recover okay? :P

At least I cover a little on the Bon Festival! :P But too bad we missed the fireworks which is always beautiful, ah well. We still have next year! But pray that it doesn’t rain again. We don’t want muddy floor okay?!
