Driver, You Decide Where To Go; Passenger(s), Shut Up Unless You’re Asked!

I met with a minor accident which I think it’s nothing big for me to boast about, but after this post, you will more or less understand the cause of it, and I wanna take this opportunity to “educate” you guys, I’m speaking from experience so take note!

As A Driver

  • Make it clear to yourself that you are a leader: This is extremely crucial unless you are a taxi driver who takes order from your customers, even if you are a taxi driver, you decide where you want to go, which road you want to use, ask your passenger who is making noise about your choice of route to shut up.
  • Focus: My previous post about driving at night covered the important point about staying focus, staying focus means absolutely no distraction coming from external or internal. You wanna talk to your passengers, make sure your hands are on the steering, and your eyes are on the road, avoid turning around and laughed because you may never know what’s gonna happen if let’s say the car in front of you braked. Staying focus also means you don’t drink and drive.
  • So what if you drove on a wrong road: You should have turned to the right but you’re now driving to the left, so what?! You do not swirl your steering suddenly to the right, why? Divider may kill you, for real, and you may not notice incoming cars and your sudden movement may cause a big BANG!
  • Let them speed: Do not attempt to be a racer when you are not supposed to die so early, the other drivers wanna speed, let them speed! You better make sure you’re safe. You hold a heavier burden if you’re bringing some passengers so what if accident occurs?
  • Signals: Do I have to tell you when is it to use your signals?
  • Yada-yada: I’m sure you have the driving guide with you, but what I mentioned must be remembered!

As A Passengers

  • Be precise and describe!: When you want to give directions on how to go to a place, please, be precise, you don’t point, you DESCRIBE, for instance, “The 1st road” or “On your left”, and NOT “Here!!! Here!!!”, what the fuck is your “Here” supposed to mean?!
  • Shut up
  • Shut up
  • Shut up
  • Shut up

YES! Passengers MUST NOT distract the drivers in any case! You wanna be helpful, make sure what you are doing is really helpful, you don’t suddenly shout “THIS LANE!” when the driver has already made his mistake. You will still find your way out, the signboards are not taken by the UFO so just shut up and be a nice passengers.

Now you speak: Do you allow your passengers to decide for you?

this was a great post! No one decides anything while I’m driving unless we let the kids decided where we’re eating dinner at or something. I’ll be completely honest, when the boyfriend is driving I’m constantly bitching about his driving habits. He’s a terrible driver and always seems to go ‘the long way’. I can’t stand it!!!
But the title of your post, shut up unless you’re asked is perfecto!

  12. on 30 Aug 2007 at 10:22 am Cedric

Hey Dita and Caren, thanks and welcome to my blog!

Dita: True enough, if you wanna let the passengers decide, it’s best that you do not do it while you’re driving, maybe before y’all depart so that the driver will have a clear target.

Caren: I hope you will always stick around.

you know… i like drivers who drives fast… (cedric drives fast? yes?) hahaha… and hor… drivers also need to be considered to not use HIGH LIGHTs when drive at night. Unless if there are no lamp posts or raining heavily. -.-
