Rude Waiters (How Are You Gonna Deal With That?)

We want peace don’t we? Our moral teacher taught us that we need to tolerate some people BUT there are some instances when you will speak to yourself, “Should I really tolerate RUDE WAITERS?” Good question! A lot of people face this problem before, which of course, including myself.
See there are possible reasons why they are acting rude:
- The waiter got screwed up by the boss
- The waiter got screwed up by the customer
- The waiter was denied going home early and hence it triggered war between he and his girlfriend
- The waiter got dumped
- The waiter argued with his parents
- The waiter is born with a bitter face
- The waiter thinks that the customers are ugly
- The waiter slipped and had his head dunked into the toilet bowl
- The waiter lost his underwear
- The waiter was robbed
- You name it
You can provide 1001 reasons but at the end of the day, the customers like us somewhat do not owe them anything and why must they take it out on us by raising their voice, showing attitudes, banging glasses, swear all the way to the counter? I’m pretty sure a lot of us face this kind of problem before, now what should you really do when you face rude waiters?
- If the restaurant has comment cards, express all your grievances on it, complain as wild as you can! But make sure you got the right names, you’re not sure whether they will take action? How about getting 20 friends of you to complain that fella in different days so that it will not look like a prank?
- Request to see the manager/supervisor. Speak with some kind of professionalism attached, do not go all out and scream, “EH WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUR WAITER?” That does not make any difference between you and that RUDE waiter. Reason out, and try to convey a message to the manager that you are indeed very sad and disappointed, and you hope that THAT waiter will change his attitude. (At your back you must pray that he gets screwed later!)
- If this kind of treatment persists, write about it and PUBLISH it! On the newspaper or on a blog, notify people about this because even if you do not take action personally, someday someone will do it on your behalf, keyword? Patience. ;)
- Speak to the waiter, usually he won’t scream at you back and again, don’t screw him with bad words, always make the people around you (strangers) think that you are a very reasonable person. Think about it, if you started with all the vulgar words and the waiter keeps quiet, what will people think? MAD BITCH! Exactly!
- Walk away. This is THE MOST USEFUL method to deal with rude waiters. And try to alert to the manager/supervisor that you’re leaving because of that rude waiter, but listen, if you alone walk away, they may think, “Losing you alone is not a big deal.”, so get around 10-20 friends and WALK OUT together, let’s see if the waiter get it or not.
- MaRvELgAL provided a good tip, she says that whatever we wanna do, make sure we do it AFTER our meal because we may never know what’s gonna happen with our food. Thanks girl!
See we can choose to be angry, but let’s say you’re in a high class restaurant, do you think you should stand up and shower the people with foul languages? You don’t have to do that, there are other polite but toxic ways to deal with this kind of people. Hope this helps and if you have any suggestions, do drop a few lines!

Well, whatever you do, make sure you do it AFTER food has been served. Trust me, a LOT of things can happen in the kitchen if the waiter/waitress is pissed at the customer….
